Our Top Volunteers

Women and men who do what they do purely “for the love of children.” They put their words into action and believe wholeheartedly in the cause they selflessly and passionately invest so much of themselves in.

A harmonizing force

Bringing people together from various walks of life, getting them to work as a team and leveraging their individual strengths and talents – that’s how Annie Lemieux, president of LS4 and LSR GesDev, succeeds in making big things happen.

That’s precisely what she has been doing with passion, motivation and sincerity for over a decade with the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. A tireless advocate for children, she serves on the board of directors, is a member of the Healing More Better campaign cabinet (Team of Next Generation Philanthropists) and was on the team that created the Winter Triathlon in 2007 – not to mention the years she sat on the Cachou Invitational Golf Tournament organizing committee.

With the help of her two co-conspirators, Catherine Sévigny and Judith Bérard, the indefatigable Annie recently outdid herself when she persuaded over 50 businesswomen to sing together for the children of Sainte-Justine and the Marie Enfant Rehabilitation Centre – both live and in a recording studio. It’s the kind of success story that seems to follow Annie wherever she goes.

The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation is grateful for the remarkable contributions and long-standing dedication of a woman who is “in tune” with the needs of her community. Thank you, Annie!

Leading the Way

The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation wishes to acknowledge the steadfast commitment of philanthropist extraordinaire Richard Nadeau, who stepped down this year from our board of directors after 6 years of dedicated service.

In addition to diligently performing the duties of his office, Richard has also been an invaluable resource for numerous fundraising events. Among other things, he sat on the organizing committee of the Cachou Invitational Golf Tournament from 2010 to 2015 and was the honorary patron of Ogilvy en fête for many years.

Richard is a true source of inspiration and someone who believes deeply in our medical and scientific teams. He has paved the way for myriad possibilities with regard to the future of pediatric healthcare and philanthropy. For everything he has done for the mothers-to-be and children of Sainte-Justine, we would like to pass along an enormous “Thank you!”

Committed to making the world a better place

Celebrated Montreal restaurateur and altruist Carlos Ferreira long ago decided to do his part to promote children’s health and wellness “because they are the future.” The list of his many commitments to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation speaks volumes about his deep-seated dedication to his chosen cause.

He has been a member of the Growing Up Healthy campaign cabinet (2000–2007), the major gifts committee (2007–2008) and the Cachou Invitational Golf Tournament organizing committee (2007–2015), as well as a member of the Foundation’s board of directors for the past decade.

He has invested his heart and soul into the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, which has translated into close to $1 million raised through his participation in such signature events as Ogilvy en fête or his own benefit activities, including the renowned Garden Party Ferreira, which brought in over $60,000 last year.

Carlos believes that contributing to the betterment of society is a vital part of being successful in business. And he knows a thing or two about success: his renowned restaurant is celebrating his 20th anniversary this year.

We are lucky to have such a generous and caring person on our side, and we hope he will continue to be there for us for many years to come. Thank you so very much!

Carlos Ferreira

An immeasurable legacy of love

René Angélil, a long-time supporter of the children of Sainte-Justine, passed away on January 14, 2016. Many of the tributes that poured in from around the world made mention of the respect and admiration he commanded for his fierce loyalty and immense generosity. He was a great man who has left behind an immeasurable legacy of love.

René Angélil, along with his wife, Céline Dion, was very involved with the hospital, particularly since children they knew had received care here. And he had every confidence in the establishment they chose to represent. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sainte-Justine does everything in its power to give children and mothers-to-be in Quebec the brightest possible future.

Both René and Céline always responded to our calls and made themselves available to us, whether it involved visiting children and families in the hospital or attending special events hosted by the Foundation.

In recognition of their dedication to the cause and their boundless generosity, they were named honorary lifetime patrons of Sainte-Justine in 2002.

Here at the Foundation, we would like to add our voices to those of so many others who have paid tribute to René Angélil. We are especially honoured to have been on the receiving end of his unwavering commitment to Sainte-Justine, for the love of children.

Thank you for everything. You will be missed.
