Financial Statements

Once again, 2015–2016 was a banner year for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation from a financial perspective, due to the ongoing commitment of our extensive and vibrant philanthropic community. It is an honour and a privilege for us to be able to count on your unflagging support. Despite the economic challenges that continue to dog the market, you went above and beyond the call of duty to help make us shine, and we thank you for it.

One step away from several major achievements!

We are infinitely grateful to our donors for the $26.5 million in donation revenue received during the year. Every day, the board shrewdly directs these contributions to meet Sainte-Justine’s greatest needs, in line with donors’ interests and the Foundation’s mission.

Strict cost control has enabled us to keep our overhead ratio lower than most other major Canadian pediatric hospital foundations. This is a mark of pride for the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation and one that speaks to our dedication to applying the most stringent process and cost control standards. Last year, we became the first healthcare institution in Quebec to earn the Imagine Canada seal of approval in recognition of our performance in terms of good governance and financial accountability.

During the year, an impressive $28 million was disbursed to CHU Sainte-Justine, $5.8 million of which will go toward the first payments for the hospital’s newly built facilities. As a result, we will be investing $11.1 million in research, $5.1 million in patient care, $2.3 million in teaching and $3.7 million in innovation. The source of these funds includes donations received in 2015–2016, as well as income from various development funds, chief among them Growing Up Healthy, which owes its tremendous success to our donors and their boundless generosity.

These results, of which you can and should be proud, are already having a real and lasting impact on the lives of the young patients and mothers-to-be of Sainte-Justine and are setting an optimistic tone as we enter into the last year of the Healing More Better campaign. Thank you, one and all!
